“People meet in architecture”


The 12th International Architecture Exhibition, entitled "People meet in architecture, is in progress until 21 November, at the Giardini of Biennale and the Arsenale. The direction was given for the first time to a woman architect, Kazuyo Sejima, recently awarded the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize 2010 (with Ryue Nishizawa). The Venice Biennale, is chaired by Paolo Baratta, that took care of the organization.
The exhibition provides a unique exhibition, with 46 participants between studies, architects, engineers and artists from all around the world. "The first decade of the twenty-first century is closing in a series of radical changes. In this rapidly evolving environment, can the architecture convey new values and modern lifestyles? The 2010 Biennial is an opportunity to experiment the many possibilities of architecture and gives an account of its plurality of approaches. Each orientation is a function of a different way of life. " So Kazuyo Sejima defines the purpose around which the experts were called in to work.
The awards ceremony and the inauguration took place on Saturday, August 28 at 16.00 in the Giardini, with the delivery of the Leone d’oro for Lifetime Achievement given to dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and the Leone d’oro for Memory of Japanese architect Kazuo Shinohara , who died in 2006.
